Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 September 2026

Home of Shade ("we", "us", "our") operates homeofshade.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect information when you visit our Site.

1. Who We Are

Home of Shade is operated by Saturn Baxter, trading as Home of Shade, a UK-based sole trader. You can contact us at info@homeofshade.com. Our registered business correspondence address will be published on this page shortly; in the meantime, please contact us by email for any postal enquiries.

2. Information We Collect

We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information to browse the Site. We may automatically collect limited technical information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring website, for the purposes described below. If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, we also collect the personal information described in Section 9 below.

3. Cookies

We use a cookie consent banner (provided by Usercentrics) that lets you choose which categories of cookies you accept. Cookies used on this Site may include: essential cookies needed for the Site to function; analytics cookies (Wix's built-in site analytics) which help us understand how visitors use the Site; and affiliate/referral tracking cookies, set when you click a link to a retailer, which allow that retailer or their affiliate network (such as Awin, CJ Affiliate, or Rakuten Advertising) to recognise that you came from Home of Shade if you make a purchase. These cookies are set by the retailer or affiliate network, not by us, and are subject to their own privacy policies. You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time via the cookie settings banner on the Site.

4. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect to operate and improve the Site, understand which products and pages are popular, communicate with newsletter subscribers, and, where applicable, to earn affiliate commission when you click through to a retailer and make a purchase.

5. Lawful Bases for Processing

Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases to process personal information:

Consent: where you have given clear consent, for example by opting in to our newsletter or accepting non-essential cookies via our consent banner.

Legitimate interests: for essential site functionality, fraud prevention, and understanding how visitors use the Site, where this does not override your rights and interests.

Legal obligation: where we need to process information to comply with a legal or regulatory requirement.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, as described in Section 11 below.

6. Affiliate Links

Home of Shade participates in affiliate marketing programmes. This means some links on the Site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase, at no extra cost to you in the vast majority of cases. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited technical information with our hosting and website provider (Wix.com), our cookie consent provider (Usercentrics), our email newsletter provider (once selected, named here), and affiliate networks and retailers, only in the form of standard tracking cookies described above, when you click through to their site.

8. International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party providers we use, including Wix.com, Usercentrics, our affiliate networks (such as Awin, CJ Affiliate, or Rakuten Advertising), our analytics tools, and our email newsletter provider, may store or process information outside the UK and EU, including in the United States. Where this happens, these providers are required to have appropriate safeguards in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent legal mechanism, to protect your information in line with UK GDPR requirements.

9. Newsletter and Subscriber Data

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address, and optionally your name, in order to send you updates about new products, colour collections, and site news. We only send you marketing emails with your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send, or by contacting us directly at info@homeofshade.com. We use a third-party email marketing provider to manage our newsletter and send these emails; we will name this provider here once it is finalised, and it will process your data in line with its own privacy policy.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

Newsletter data (your email address and any related preferences) is retained for as long as you remain subscribed, and is deleted or anonymised within 30 days of you unsubscribing.

Analytics and cookie data is retained in line with the retention periods set by Wix's built-in analytics, Usercentrics, and our affiliate networks, which are typically between 30 days and 24 months depending on the cookie type.

Correspondence (such as emails you send us) is retained for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up queries.

11. Your Rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR/GDPR, including the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you

Correct inaccurate or incomplete data

Request deletion of your data

Restrict how we process your data

Object to our processing of your data

Request a copy of your data in a portable format (data portability)

Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew it

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@homeofshade.com.

12. Right to Complain

If you have concerns about how we handle your personal information, we would appreciate the chance to address them directly at info@homeofshade.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

13. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

15. Contact Us
